Shires regular, Richard, once again chose the hotterst day of the year to participate in the Dorney Lake Olympic distance triathlon organised by ATW.

Although Richard's swim wave went off last he tried not to let the heat get to him.  His swim went really well as he maintained a consistent strong position midway through the field achieving a 28 min swim time

The bike was made up of 8 fast closed-road laps which he easily completed in 62 mins with a strong average speed of 22.4mph this put him in the top 15%.

Within 400 mtrs of starting the run it was pretty clear that the 28 degrees heat was going to take its toll.  With no shade to shelter in, the run was made up of 2 laps.  Richard completed this unforgivingly tough run in 46 minutes - which put him in the top 20%.

A champion effort in tough weather conditions meant Richard's overall finishing time of 2 hours 23 mins put him in an incredible place of 56th out of 303, and a first in AG!

Great racing from Richard as always.
