Simon B’s training for The Thames Marathon Swim paid off today. Although the event was reduced to 10k instead of 14k due to the Covid-rescheduled event clashing with the Henley Regatta, this didn’t diminish the hard work and enjoyment Simon got out of it.
Split into three sections due to the locks, the 10k was broken into 5.5k, then 1,8k and finally 2.7k. The plentiful feed stations helped fuel Simon’s impressive swim.
'...It was a well-run, fun, event. I really enjoyed it and hope to do the whole 14k next year!”
Simon finished in 148th place out of 520 competitors and placed 15th out of 55 in his age category. “I had been training at 1min 50s per 100m and ended up swimming 1 min 25 seconds per 100m, so was really pleased with my performance. Most importantly though it was a well-run, fun, event. I really enjoyed it and hope to do the whole 14k next year!” says Simon.
