Verna, Sarah and Fiona dipped more than a toe in the water at the The Swimmer, a half marathon distance run from Hampstead to Herne Hill with swims in London’s finest ponds and parks.
The trio swam in Hampstead Ponds, Parliament Hill Lido, Serpentine Lido and Brockwell Lido. As all are unheated and being February, the temperature was sub 5 degrees so The Swimmer was billed as an experience not a race!
The brave Shires team reported a great, really supportive event, attracting all levels of swimmer and runner. With a T-shirt and pizza thrown in for the £50 entry fee, there is already talk of doing it again next year!
